The Department for Child Protection (DCP) has updated its Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP) to align with the State Disability Inclusion Plan 2025-2029.
The DCP DAIP aligns with the government’s vision that people with disability can fully participate in community life, access mainstream services, and enjoy equal opportunities. It sets out the actions that the department will undertake over the next four years according to the priority areas in the State Disability Inclusion Plan 2025-2029.
The DCP DAIP identifies ways that the department can improve access and inclusion for anyone engaging with the department – in particular, children and young people in care, carers, families in contact with the department, and DCP staff.
The DCP DAIP has been developed in consultation with all areas across the department. Targeted consultation was sought from various key DCP stakeholders, DCP staff and peak bodies.
Actions will be embedded within directorate business plans to ensure delivery is achieved in line with the Department’s Strategic Plan and the objectives of the Disability Inclusion Act 2018.
Delivering on the commitments made within this plan will ensure all aspects of the work that we do are considered through the lens of people who live with disability and that access and inclusion is at the forefront of our decision making.
