Free book packs have been sent out to all young children in care this month, helping them improve their reading and language skills.
Under Raising Literacy Australia’s Read to Me scheme, age-appropriate books are distributed every three months, supporting healthy brain development and encouraging positive adult-child interactions.
All children in care up to six years old receive the free books that they can add to their libraries, with stories selected based on children’s ages.
Our Read to Me page details the full selection of book packs and other information about the program.
If you are caring for a child up to six years old, and have not been receiving book packs, talk to your child’s case worker.
Raising Literacy Australia also has a You Tube channel sharing book readings and activity videos.
Read to Me is run by Raising Literacy Australia with support from the Department for Child Protection, Variety – The Children’s Charity of South Australia, Australian Publishing Industry and Cochrane’s Transport.
