In response to sector feedback, 2 approved service providers can now deliver psychological assessments – PsychCheck and White & Associates Psychologists.

A key change under the Children and Young People (Safety) Act 2017 was the requirement for all residential care staff to undergo a psychological assessment, strengthening protections for children and young people.

In response to sector feedback, 2 approved service providers can now deliver psychological assessments – PsychCheck and White & Associates Psychologists. This means that residential care agencies can now negotiate with multiple providers, and that assessments may occur faster in busy periods.

Non-government agency residential care staff who work in DCP premises must have completed a psychological assessment by 6 September 2019. Organisations with employees working in DCP licensed premises have until 22 April 2020 to complete their psychological assessments.
